About International Development Consulting
Varying from Program Management to specialized Technical Advisory, we provide services to a wide range of clients, including national and local governments, bilateral and multilateral donors, and NGOs in development projects. Our Program Management component includes Program Design, Planning, Execution, Monitoring & Evaluation and Closure. As for the Technical Advisory, our services include, but are not limited to, Policy Development, Strategy Formulation, Value Chain and Market System Analysis, Cost Benefit Analysis, Sectoral Studies and interventions implementation such as capacity development or awareness-raising. Examples of our previously completed assignments include conducting a gender-sensitive value chain analysis of the date palm sector, a study on the impact of COVID-19 on the Labour Market in Egypt, a policy paper on creative clusters in the Southern Mediterranean, and a study to present a simplified tax regime for MSMEs, training NGOs and women in Upper Egypt on entrepreneurship and employability.
Job Responsibilities
- Conducting research on various socio-economic development topics such as entrepreneurship and MSME development, gender, labour market, environment, among others.
- Conducting research on economic sectors and sub-sectors from a value-chains and market systems perspective/analysis.
- Design and implementation of primary research. This includes design of the data collection tools, scheduling, attending in-depth interviews and focus group discussions and handling documentation properly.
- Synthesis and analysis of data to capture the main findings and conclusion of the research in a concise manner. This includes visualization of figures and charts.
- Managing field assignments including supervision of local partners and teams of trainers and coordinators in governorates.
- Documentation, communication and coordination with the clients and relevant stakeholders.
- Writing reports, research papers and policy briefs.
- Writing compelling technical proposals and work plans.
- Handling administrative and logistical procedures and tasks related to the projects including reporting and timesheets, as required.
- Support to business development activities.
- Other relevant tasks as deemed necessary.
Qualifications
- A degree in Economics, Business Administration, or a relevant field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in economic development, research and/or project management.
- Excellent research, analytical and report-writing skills.
- Experience in entrepreneurship and SME development research, policies or the ecosystem is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, flexibility and willingness to learn.
- Project management skills, multi-tasking, and time management.
- Attention to details and the quality of deliverables.
- Excellent English language skills; reading, speaking, and writing. Good Arabic language skills are a plus.
- Proficiency in MS-Office applications; Word, PowerPoint, and Excel are a must. Knowledge of quantitative data analysis applications is a plus.
- Openness to travel for field missions is required.
