Job Description
Job Purpose:
Responsible for identifying and supporting sales opportunities for project cargo and value-added services across Egypt. This role ensures smooth coordination between clients, global teams, and internal departments to deliver accurate quotations, manage specialized equipment, and oversee end-to-end cargo operations. It also involves preparing reports, ensuring regulatory compliance, and contributing to service quality and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to identifying sales opportunities for project cargo and value-added services in both export and import activities across Egypt and support the direct manager in defining and reviewing annual sales targets.
- Proactively engage with customers to drive consistent sales growth, ensuring monthly targets are achieved by supporting the benchmarking of project cargo in Egypt for both technical specifications and financial quotations.
- Collaborate with the global project cargo team to help gather input for proposal studies, including direct and indirect shipping and service expenses, to support financial quotations aligned with global pricing strategies.
- Support the verification of dimensions and weight of breakbulk/special cargo for the technical pre-evaluation to ensure compatibility with vessel stowage plans and terminal handling capabilities before submitting technical quotations.
- Coordinate with clients, the global project cargo team, and terminals’ technical engineering unit to ensure the availability of specialized equipment and appropriate handling tools for safe cargo operations throughout the shipping cycle.
- Work with documentation and operations teams to facilitate the execution of the project cargo shipping cycle, ensure timelines are followed, and contribute to preparing accurate freight manifests (e.g. handling cost for the POD and POL, any additional charges of the GPC charges) including detailed cargo descriptions and hazardous declarations.
- Compile and submit all sales intake and lost sales opportunities report, finance report (cost and revenues), Value-added services report, equipment availability report and shipments booking & BLs report to the direct manager and contribute to preparing performance reports for projects cargo and VAS for the GVA project cargo team.
- Identify and develop new Project Cargo business opportunities across key industries such as Oil & Gas, Energy, Infrastructure, Construction, Mining, and Industrial Projects.
- Conduct regular sales visits to existing and prospective customers to promote the company’s services and strengthen business relationships.
- Generate and qualify leads, maintain an active sales pipeline, and achieve agreed sales targets.
- Prepare and present commercial proposals, quotations, and logistics solutions tailored to customer requirements.
- Follow up on inquiries, quotations, and tenders to maximize conversion opportunities.
- Coordinate with Operations, Pricing, and Management teams to develop competitive and technically feasible solutions. Maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, EPC companies, project owners, and other stakeholders.
- Monitor market developments, competitor activities, and upcoming projects to identify new business opportunities.
- Participate in commercial negotiations and support contract discussions with customers.
- Ensure accurate reporting of sales activities, customer visits, opportunities, and forecasts through the company’s CRM and reporting systems.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, exhibitions, and networking activities when required.
- Support the department in achieving revenue, volume, and profitability objectives.
- Coordinate with agents on all shipments to provide clear guidance on Terminal Handling Charges (THC) and any additional fees applicable at Egyptian discharge and transshipment ports.
- Coordinate internally with involved departments such as booking, documentation, invoicing, operations and Medlog logistics within MSC Egypt to ensure optimal service quality for clients.
- Monitor project cargo movements from origin to final delivery and report any delays or disruptions to the operations team, supporting contingency planning and safe cargo release with the freight forwarders and direct shippers.
- Participate in sourcing and evaluating service providers including road surveying and support operational coordination to ensure smooth execution of value-added services.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree of a relevant discipline is a must.
- Understanding of project cargo operations and related documentation.
- Knowledge of import/export procedures and customs regulations.
- Understanding of freight manifesting and invoicing accuracy processes.
- Awareness of forecasting techniques to ensure equipment and space availability.
- Knowledge of after-sales service processes and client relationship management.
