Job Title: Data Governance Analyst

Role Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Data Governance Analyst with strong practical experience in enterprise data governance, data lineage, and data quality management. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise working with the Axon governance platform and will play a key role in translating governance policies into operational processes and measurable outcomes.

This role requires someone who can work closely with business stakeholders, data stewards, and technical teams to improve data trust, visibility, ownership, and governance adoption across critical enterprise data domains.

The successful candidate should be comfortable operating in complex environments, driving governance initiatives pragmatically, and balancing governance standards with business usability.

Key Responsibilities

Axon Governance Platform

• Configure and maintain business glossaries, policies, data quality objects, and governance workflows within Axon.
• Build and manage workflow automations for approvals, stewardship assignments, and exception handling processes.
• Support onboarding and enablement of business and IT users on governance platform capabilities and processes.
• Drive adoption and operational usage of governance tooling across multiple business domains.

Data Lineage & Impact Analysis

• Capture and maintain end-to-end business and technical data lineage across enterprise systems and reporting layers.
• Partner with engineering and data teams to ingest metadata through APIs, scanners, and manual curation methods.
• Conduct impact analysis related to system changes, regulatory requirements, and data transformation initiatives.
• Improve lineage transparency and self-service capabilities for business users.

Data Quality Management

• Define and implement data quality rules, KPIs, monitoring controls, and dashboards aligned with business objectives.
• Coordinate with data stewards and stakeholders to investigate, triage, and remediate data quality issues.
• Monitor data quality trends and support continuous improvement initiatives across priority datasets.
• Support governance reporting and metrics for leadership and governance councils.

Policy & Stewardship Enablement

• Translate internal policies and regulatory requirements into operational governance rules and workflows.
• Support data ownership models, stewardship onboarding, and RACI alignment across data domains.
• Maintain metadata standards, naming conventions, classifications, and governance taxonomies.
• Promote governance best practices while ensuring practical adoption across teams.

Required Skills & Experience

• 8–11 years of experience in data governance, data management, metadata management, or data quality roles.
• Expert-level hands-on experience with Axon including:
• Workflow design
• Governance modeling
• User and role management
• Reporting and operational administration
• Strong practical experience in data lineage and metadata management using Axon, Informatica, or similar governance platforms.
• Proven experience implementing data quality frameworks including profiling, rule creation, monitoring, and remediation.
• Strong understanding of:
• Data governance frameworks
• Data modeling concepts
• SQL
• Metadata management
• Experience collaborating across business and IT teams to resolve ownership, governance, and data quality challenges.
• Familiarity with data privacy and governance regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, and enterprise data classification standards.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Axon certification or equivalent governance platform certification.
• Experience integrating governance platforms with:
• Snowflake
• Databricks
• Informatica
• dbt
• Tableau
• Exposure to enterprise data catalog and governance ecosystems.
• Experience within financial services or other highly regulated industries is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of enterprise governance operating models and governance councils.
