Danish Government Long-Term Scholarships for International Students in Denmark, 2020
Danish Government is now accepting applications for Long-Term scholarships in 2020 academic year. The studentships are only available to masters and PhD-level students. However, bachelor’s degree students wishing to study Danish language and literature can also apply if they have studied the Danish language for two years.
The Danish government awards under the Cultural Agreements are aimed at highly qualified exchange students wishing to immerse themselves in studies of the Danish language and culture or other fields of study related to Denmark.
The Ministry aims to create knowledge, growth and welfare in Denmark as it takes its place in an increasingly globalised world. The Ministry’s vision is to create the best possible conditions for research, study and innovation in Europe.
The studentships are only available to masters and PhD-level students. Some universities have other requirements regarding proof of proficiency in English, such as the TOEFL test or IELTS test. Please ask the Danish university where they wish to study requirements and enclose the applicable documentation in their application.
The Certificate of Proficiency in English, TOEFL test, or IELTS test should be filled out and signed by the relevant authority or language school at the institution in their home country.

Danish government awards can be used to cover travel, visa, accommodation, food, and other living expenses. The bursaries are for one person only. Additional amounts for accompanying family members are not available.
Participants may be liable to pay tax on their award in the Kingdom of Denmark. Therefore, scholarship recipients should contact the local tax authorities for an individual assessment. In the event that the Danish tax authorities decide that a scholarship is taxable, the Agency for Science and Higher Education has no power to overturn the decision.
