Job Description

We are seeking a highly accomplished and results-driven Automation Business Unit Manager to lead and manage all aspects of the Automation Business Unit. This role is responsible for driving strategic direction, overseeing the design and execution of automation solutions, managing site installations, and ensuring operational excellence across all functions.

The ideal candidate will play a critical role in aligning technical operations with business objectives, enhancing profitability, and ensuring seamless collaboration across departments.

Requirements

Strategic Planning & Budget Management

  • Develop and execute the strategic roadmap for the Automation Business Unit in alignment with the company’s vision and objectives.
  • Define, monitor, and drive short- and long-term goals to ensure sustainable business growth.
  • Prepare, manage, and control the annual budget while ensuring optimal resource allocation and cost efficiency.
  • Monitor financial performance and provide regular analysis and reports to senior management.
  • Foster strong cross-functional collaboration to ensure operational efficiency and alignment across departments.

Automation Design & Project Execution

  • Lead the design and implementation of automation solutions tailored to market and client requirements.
  • Define project scope, requirements, and oversee system architecture and technical design.
  • Collaborate with engineering and development teams to ensure high-quality, fit-for-purpose deliverables.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in compliance with technical standards.
  • Maintain adherence to quality assurance processes and industry best practices.

Site Installations & Commissioning

  • Oversee all on-site installation activities, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and safety standards.
  • Coordinate with installation teams to ensure accurate and efficient execution according to approved designs.
  • Supervise the full project lifecycle, including testing, commissioning, and final handover.
  • Ensure timely resolution of technical issues in coordination with support teams.

Technical Office & Pricing

  • Lead the preparation of detailed technical proposals, offers, and documentation.
  • Provide technical support to sales teams and respond to client inquiries in a professional manner.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure accuracy and completeness of technical information.
  • Participate in client meetings and technical discussions to support business development activities.
  • Define project timelines, priorities, and technical requirements.
  • Oversee project costing and pricing strategies to ensure competitiveness and profitability.

Quality, Systems & Reporting

  • Ensure full compliance with ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001) and internal policies.
  • Maintain adherence to company procedures and ERP system workflows.
  • Prepare and present periodic operational and performance reports to senior management.

Managerial Responsibilities

  • Set clear departmental objectives aligned with the company’s strategic goals.
  • Establish structured communication frameworks and periodic team meetings.
  • Plan workforce requirements and allocate responsibilities effectively.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop team members to maximize performance and engagement.
  • Monitor KPIs, conduct performance evaluations, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Identify training and development needs and implement improvement plans.
  • Review and approve departmental reports and deliverables.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 9+ years of experience in automation, including at least 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Proven track record in delivering end-to-end automation projects.
  • Strong expertise in PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, and industrial automation systems.
  • Experience in Building Management Systems (BMS) and KNX systems is a strong advantage.
  • Solid experience in technical proposals, costing, and pricing strategies.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies and execution frameworks.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and structured operational workflows.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO standards and compliance practices.
