Food Storeman
 
AngloGold Ashanti acquired the Sukari gold mine in Egypt through the acquisition of Centamin plc in November 2024. Sukari is owned in partnership with the Egyptian Government.
 
Sukari is located approximately 750km from Cairo and 25km from Marsa Alam on the Red Sea. First gold was poured in June 2009 and commercial production began in April 2010, making Sukari the first modern gold mine in Egypt, a country which in ancient times was a prolific producer of the precious metal. Sukari conducts both open-pit and underground mining operations, each employing specialised mining methods tailored to the orebody characteristics and operational requirements.
 
The Role
 
The Food Storeman is responsible for receiving all incoming food shipments, arranging them safely and securely within the stores, and handling the daily issuance of raw kitchen food items. Operating within the Administration Department, this role ensures strict compliance with food health and safety parameters, hygiene standards, and warehouse inventory control tracking.

  • Schedule: 20/10 working roster

The Key Responsibilities
 

  • Shipment Receiving & Delivery Acceptance: Serve as a responsible member for accepting all food stock deliveries and shipments. Safely unload and accommodate heavy, large-scale food shipments into warehouse spaces securely.
  • Stock Safekeeping & FIFO Management: Organize food material stock and inventory balances to prevent shortages. Safekeep all goods in the store magazines in strict accordance with the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) system to prevent waste.
  • Daily Kitchen Issuance: Manage and execute accurate daily issuances of raw kitchen food items to catering and kitchen staff based on daily tracking needs.
  • Environmental & Expiry Monitoring: Systematically record the humidity and temperature of the food stores. Proactively monitor, track, and record the expiry dates of all store items, documenting incoming and issued goods directly onto individual items’ cards.
  • Health, Safety, & Hygiene Compliance: Apply and enforce absolute hygiene and safety standards. Keep all storage facilities immaculately clean, tidy, organized, and compliant with external and internal auditor requirements.
  • Daily Workflow Reporting: Formulate regular inventories of store stocks/balances and compile daily reports regarding the operations and workflow within the food stores.

 
The Requirements

  • Education & Qualifications: A degree or diploma from a Commercial Secondary School or a related field degree is required. A technical background or certification in food safety and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) parameters is highly preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in a similar food storage or warehousing role is required. Sourcing targets look specifically for individuals with a background in Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) or large-scale hospitality operations.
  • Technical & General Skills: Good command of MS Office packages for inventory updates and documentation tracking. Fair knowledge of the English language to read and process administrative entries smoothly.
